A bank that doubled in size — without the digital seams showing

Texas Regional Bank picked us in 2014, when they had a single website and a single book of business. A decade later they're nearly twice the size, with 36 locations stretching from the Rio Grande Valley to North Texas and a service mix that runs from a personal checking account in Harlingen to international asset management out of a private banking floor.

That kind of growth tends to break websites. Service lines fork; brands fragment; customers end up in five different login portals trying to find the same balance. We've spent ten years making sure none of that happened — and the 2025 rebuild, with a brand-new employee intranet alongside the public site, is the largest piece of work we've ever delivered for them.

At a glance

  • Client since: 2014
  • Headquarters: Harlingen, Texas
  • Footprint: 36 locations across Texas
  • Digital ecosystem: Main banking platform + four specialized division sites (Insurance, Trust & Wealth, International Private Banking, Capital Markets) + new employee intranet
  • Services delivered: Web design, web development, custom application development, intranet, ongoing security & compliance management

The challenge: one bank, five lines of business, one experience

Texas Regional Bank doesn't sell one thing. The retail customer in McAllen needs a mortgage rate. The treasury client in Dallas needs international wire posture. The high-net-worth family in Brownsville needs trust administration. The capital-markets desk needs deal flow.

Each of those audiences has their own brand expectations, their own compliance posture, and their own definition of "fast." Putting them on a single homepage is a recipe for confusing all of them at once. Putting them on five disconnected websites is a recipe for losing the cross-sell. We had to thread both needles.

The internal side had its own problem. With the workforce now spread across 36 locations, the bank had outgrown the email-and-shared-drive era of operations. Branch managers, loan officers, and back-office staff needed a single place for policies, forms, training, internal news, and the dozens of small workflows a regional bank runs every day.

The solution: a federated public ecosystem and a private intranet

Federated public sites, one digital backbone

The customer-facing presence is five distinct sites: the main bank, plus separately branded properties for Insurance, Trust & Wealth, International Private Banking, and Capital Markets. Each division gets the visual language and content depth its audience expects. Behind the curtain they share infrastructure: a unified CMS, common authentication where it matters, shared compliance and accessibility posture, and a single security ops team. The bank gets the marketing flexibility of separate brands without the maintenance cost of separate vendors.

A 2025 rebuild ready for the next decade

The current rebuild — set to launch from a staged trb2025 environment — modernizes the platform end to end: faster page weights, refreshed visual system across all five properties, mobile-first build for a customer base that increasingly does its banking on a phone, and an architecture that accommodates the next set of locations and service lines without another full rebuild.

The employee intranet

The internal piece is a custom application, not an off-the-shelf SharePoint configuration. It hosts the bank's policies, forms, internal news, training materials, and the workflow tooling specific to a 36-branch operation. Identity is wired into the bank's existing systems so adding a new employee on Monday means they can log in by Tuesday — no separate provisioning queue.

Compliance and security posture

Banking sites carry regulatory weight a marketing site doesn't. Across all five public properties and the internal portal, we own ADA accessibility, FDIC disclosure placement, TLS posture, vulnerability patching, and the steady drumbeat of CMS, dependency, and infrastructure updates that keeps a financial institution off the front page of the wrong kind of news story.

The outcome

Whether a customer is opening a personal checking account, applying for a mortgage, or managing eight figures of international assets, they get the same security posture, the same accessibility floor, and the same kind of speed. Whether an employee is in the Harlingen headquarters or a branch on the I-35 corridor, they're working off the same intranet, the same forms, and the same single source of truth.

Ten years in, we're not running a vendor relationship. We're running the digital function for a regional bank that's still doubling in size — and the platform is built to keep up.

Whether a client is applying for a personal loan or managing international assets, they experience the same high standard of security and performance.
